Online Security

The Web Server that is used for Viewpoint Online is exceedingly secure, both physically and logically.  The PC itself is held in a very secure location, with only a few, trusted, people having access to it, and even fewer knowing how to logon.

The data on the server is backed up on a continual, 24 hour basis to a separate location so there is no risk of losing data should there be either Web Server problems or a natural disaster such as fire or flood.

All internet traffic going to and from the Web Server has to go through a secure router which analyses and blocks any unwanted traffic.  A sophisticated Microsoft Firewall is also installed on the Web Server itself which further protects the machine from unwanted intrusion attempts, and as the PC is a dedicated Web Server and there are no other applications required to run on it we have been able to really lock down the machine with the firewall.

The latest version of Norton Antivirus is also installed and run daily, for even further security and peace of mind.

The Microsoft Web Site is constantly monitored so that all critical security patches are installed as soon as they are released.

A Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate is installed on the server meaning that when a Viewpoint Online user logs on, a secure connection is made between the server and the client PC, so no data can be intercepted, and also all data sent between the two is encrypted and can only be decrypted by the machine at the other end.
